Childhood Scribbles
Acrylic on canvas
The point of this painting was to get out of my own head about perfection in art.
As a very young child scribbling on paper, no thought is paid to how a drawing "should" turn out. They are not yet trying to create an image of something, it is just scribbling for the sake of scribbling.

I therefore challenged myself with this piece to simply paint without thinking — as a child would — and create a painting completely based in the spontaneity of the moment. I started by blowing up and transferring actual scribbles I made as a toddler to the canvas and letting them guide the rest of the piece.
